When was the last time there were trending stories about bunting two days in a row? Monday June 17th featured Matt Carpenter of the St.Louis Cardinals was up to bat against the Miami Marlins who were playing the shift. Carpenter laid down a bunt, sending the ball down the third baseline where no Marlin player was near. Carpenter easily had a stand up double on the play which brought up a whole discussion on if that was the answer to the shift. Then yesterday video of Washington Nationals ace pitcher Max Scherzer was doing some bunting drills during batting practice when one popped up and hit him in the face breaking his nose.
