On This Day in 1977, Reggie Jackson Capped a Tumultuous Summer in NYC

Immortalized in the ESPN film "The Bronx Is Burning", which was brilliantly done in the mid- 2000's, 1977 was a very wild and tumultuous summer in the Bronx. There was political activity, fires burning in the south Bronx, and of course the hysteria over the string of murders done by David Berkowitz, better known to the public as "Son of Sam". Of course, to encapsulate all that was that wild summer, were the infighting, volatile and ultimately successful World Series Champion New York Yankees. They survived controversy, infighting, and eventually the Los Angeles Dodgers to bring the title back to the Bronx after a 15 year drought. Enjoy one of the most memorable moments in sports history!
