Yelich to sign long-term with Brewers

As one long-term Brewers contract is set to expire, another future Brewers Hall of Famer inks a deal to take its place.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Milwaukee Brewers are set to sign Christian Yelich to a seven-year contract extension, which will keep him under contract for nine more seasons.

The extension kicks in after the two remaining years on Yelich's deal, which means that the Brewers will be out from under Ryan Braun's contract regardless of whether or not they pick up Braun's option for 2021.

With the extension, Yelich is set to make well north of $200 million with the Brewers.

Yelich won the 2018 NL MVP and had a potential 2019 NL MVP run stopped short when he fractured his kneecap late in the season.
