Brewers season ends in NL Wild Card loss to Nationals 4-3

A three-run single by Juan Soto gave the Washington Nationals the lead in the bottom of the eighth, which held in a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night in the National League Wild Card Game.

The bottom of the eighth inning had any number of moments that didn't go the Brewers' way, and the end result is a one-and-done postseason for Milwaukee.

For the Brewers, it was a sudden end to a blazing charge into the playoffs, ripping through the month of September to chase down the Cubs for the final Wild Card spot. Now, Milwaukee will head to the offseason having lost its last four games, and questions abound about the construction of the roster, with several free agents pending and the clock ticking on the core of the organization.
