Report: Yelich won't need surgery on injured kneecap

MLB analyst Jim Bowden reported on Wednesday evening that Christian Yelich won't need surgery on his fractured right kneecap and will be out for six weeks.

Bowden tweeted the news shortly after Milwaukee's 7-5 win over the Marlins, their sixth in a row.

Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt tweeted that it was the best-case scenario regarding the injury, which takes six to eight weeks to heal.

The timeline still keeps Yelich out of action for most, if not all, of the MLB postseason.

Thursday, the Brewers are expected to formally offer an update on Yelich's injury and possible timetable for a return.
