Markus Howard sets Marquette career scoring record in 88-53 win

With 30 first-half points and 38 points total in Marquette's 88-53 win over Loyola-Maryland, Markus Howard broke Jerel McNeal's all-time career scoring record for the Golden Eagles.

Howard tied the record exactly with his first-have scoring barrage, matching McNeal's 1,985 career points at the break. Howard broke the record early in the second half, finishing the game at 1,993 career points.

The Golden Eagles shot 14-of-20 from three-point range and scored 44 points in each half, overwhelming the outmatched Greyhounds.

In addition to Howard's 38, Sacar Anim and Koby McEwen each had 11 for Marquette.

Now 1-0 after their season opener, Marquette will face two Big Ten teams next week, with #23 Purdue coming to Fiserv Forum on Wednesday before Marquette heads to Madison to take on Wisconsin on Sunday, November 17.
