Marquette receives #5 seed to NCAA Tournament, will face Murray State

The Marquette University men’s basketball team (24-9, 12-6 BIG EAST) has earned an at-large bid to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and will face Murray State in the first round on Thursday, March 21 at the XL Center in Harford, Connecticut.

The Golden Eagles are the No. 5 seed in the West Region and will face 12th-seeded Murray State at 3:30 p.m. on TBS.

Marquette is making its 33rd appearance in the NCAA tournament and first since 2016-17 (lost in first round to eventual Final Four participant South Carolina). The program, which claimed the national title in 1977, also owns 16 trips to the Sweet Sixteen and has participated in the Final Four on three occasions (1974, 1977, 2003).
